Navigate Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Part 19. Learn about rapid-fire passengers, disappearing health/vehicles, and advanced tips like tank boosts and quick targeting.

Hey there! So, you've made it to Part 19 of our Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories guide. This section is all about ironing out some of those annoying little quirks and giving you a few extra tricks up your sleeve to make your Vice City experience smoother.

We'll cover some gameplay issues you might run into, like why your passengers suddenly have machine guns that fire like crazy, and some version-specific bugs that can be a real pain. Plus, I've got some advanced tips to help you out, especially when it comes to getting the most out of vehicles and targeting.

Gameplay Issues

A. Rapid Firing Passengers

You might notice in some missions that your passengers' weapons suddenly start firing way faster than normal – like three or four times the usual rate. Don't freak out, this isn't a bug! The developers actually did this to make certain missions a bit easier by letting your buddies take down enemies quicker. It's pretty cool, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  • First off, this rapid-fire boost doesn't apply to you as the driver. You'll still be firing at your normal speed. This makes sense, really, to stop you from just emptying your ammo clip in seconds.
  • Now, here's the big one: enemies can get this same rapid-fire ability! So, if you find yourself facing a gang car with four people inside, and three of them suddenly have machine guns firing at hyper-speed, you're in for a rough time. They can shred you and your vehicle pretty quickly. This can become a real headache in some missions and especially during Empire Building when you're trying to capture multiple properties.

B. Disappearing Health (PSP Version)

Alright, this one's a bit of a bummer for PSP players. When you manage to snag that extra health bonus, making your health bar go up to 150%, the game doesn't actually save this boost when you save your game. So, you might save your game with 150% health, but when you reload, you'll find yourself back at the standard 100%. You'll have to go find a Health Icon again to get that extra boost back.

C. Disappearing Vehicles (PSP Version)

Another irritating issue specific to the PSP version is with your garages. You know how you save your favorite vehicles in your garages? Well, they have a tendency to just vanish after a couple of missions. This is super annoying, especially if you went through the trouble of tracking down something awesome like the Rhino tank!

Advanced Tips and Information

Quick Targeting

When you're aiming at targets with a gun, like your Pistol, and you're holding down the Target button, you can actually switch between targets using the Next and Previous Weapon buttons. Alternatively, you can quickly let go of the Target button and press it again to lock onto a new target once you've dealt with the current one. It's a neat little trick to speed up your combat.

The Tank Gun Boost

Want to give your Rhino tank a speed boost? Here's a cool trick: rotate the tank's main gun a full 180 degrees so it's facing backward. Now, just keep firing the main gun. The recoil from firing will actually propel the tank forward. The faster you fire, the faster the tank will move. You can get it going surprisingly fast with this method!

100% Completion Note

Just a quick heads-up regarding 100% completion: the side-mission 'Skywolf,' which unlocks after you finish the main story, can be used to help you achieve that goal. However, it's worth noting that you can still reach 100% completion even without doing it, as long as you've finished the main story.
