Combat Training: Speak to Captain Bernard at the Rattay combat arena to train in main-hand weapons. He offers paid lessons at skill levels 0, 5, 10, and 15, which grant experience but no new techniques. For archery, train with Hunter Berthold in Rattay or Hunter Nicholas in Talmberg. They offer paid lessons at levels 0, 5, 10, and 15 for bow experience and separate payments for hunting experience. Archery ranges are located beneath the Upper Castle in Rattay, and in Ledetchko, Uzhitz, and Merhojed. For unarmed combat, find Fritz in the Sasau inn, Punch in the Sasau fighting arena, or a fisherman in a camp north-east of Uzhitz.

Stealing Skills: To train in lockpicking and pickpocketing, find Miller Peshek at Rattay Mill or Black Lukesh in a hut north of Talmberg. The charlatan in Sasau also trains in pickpocketing and can be found at the tavern or market square. Practice lockpicking and pickpocketing by repeatedly attempting them; experience is gained from the act itself, not the items taken.

Stealth Training: Stealth is crucial for lockpicking and pickpocketing. To ensure a stealthy approach, remove noisy items, use dark areas, and stay crouched. Train stealth with Woyzeck at Kohelnitz Mill, Miller Simon east of the Sasau monastery, or Henry’s friend Matthew at the Sasau inn.

Reading Skill: Complete the quest ‘Mightier Than the Sword’ early in the game. You will need 50 Groschen to pay a Scribe in Uzhitz for tutelage. Learn Latin in addition to the primary language. Read as many books as possible to increase your reading skill; store books beyond your current skill for later.

Alchemy and Herbalism: After learning to read, explore potion brewing. Alchemy involves combining herbs with liquids in a cauldron, potentially using a pestle and mortar and a distiller. Recipes and ingredients are found at an alchemy bench, with one reliably accessible behind the apothecary in Rattay.
