A Bird in the Hand...

Follow this guide to complete the 'A Bird in the Hand...' side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Learn how to find and capture Nightingales for Huntsman Berthold.

Alright, so you've picked up the 'A Bird in the Hand...' quest from Huntsman Berthold in Rattay. He's going to want you to catch some Nightingales, and the first thing you need to do is pay close attention to the song he imitates. Seriously, try to remember that tune – it's your main clue later on.

Once you feel like you've got the Nightingale's song down, head west out of Rattay into the Vranik Forest. The map will highlight the general area you need to search, but honestly, you're mostly going to be listening.

It’s not always easy to spot these birds visually, so your ears are your best friend here. Keep an eye on the map for the highlighted search area, but focus on the sound of the Nightingale's song. When you hear it, start looking around.

Found one? Awesome! Now, pull up your inventory and find those empty bird cages. They're usually in the 'Other' tab. Once you've got a cage selected, drop it on the ground and then back away a bit. Don't stand right over it. Wait for the Nightingale's song to stop. If you did it right, the bird will be in the cage!

You'll know it's successfully caught because the cage will have a piece of cloth covering it. That's your signal to pick it up. Just grab the caged bird.

Now, you just need to repeat this whole process two more times. Keep an eye out for bandit camps while you're wandering around the forest, too – they're pretty common in this area. Once you've snagged all three Nightingales, head back to Huntsman Berthold in Rattay to turn in the quest. Easy peasy!
