First things first, you need to grab this quest from the Rattay Bailiff. Just chat with him about learning to read, and he'll point you towards the scribe in Uzhitz. You'll usually find the scribe chilling in the same house as the bailiff, and don't worry, it'll be marked on your map.

When you finally meet the scribe, get ready to shell out 50 Groschen for your first reading lesson. It's an investment, trust me!

After the cutscene where the scribe gives you the rundown on reading, you'll need to interact with the book sitting on the table. Take a good look at it and try to remember what it says. Once you're done, head back to the scribe. He'll ask you what the book was about, and you need to pick the dialogue option: 'That being greedy doesn’t pay.'

Next up, he's going to test your Latin skills. You'll find another book, this time in Latin, propped up to the right of the English one. Read through that one, and then return to the scribe again. When he asks what the Latin book contained, you'll want to choose the middle dialogue option. It's the one that doesn't have any bits of English mixed in, so keep an eye out for that!
