Boss Encounter: Obsidian Samurai

The Obsidian Samurai is a tank-like boss with high health and an expanded moveset, similar to a Revenant but enhanced. He primarily uses an axe, switching to a large katana, and can utilize his Guardian Spirit, Atlas Bear.

Boss Moves:

  • Axe Combo(s): Expect up to a four-hit string, including two swings, a backward swing, and a leaping axe smash. He can mix these attacks and occasionally throw in a punch.
  • Katana Combo(s): Faster than his axe attacks, these multi-swing combos have considerable reach. He can also perform an "Iai Quickdraw" attack.
  • Whirlwind Attack: While using his axe, he performs three rapid rotations towards you. It is best to run away until the last rotation finishes, then attack. Blocking is a last resort.
  • Electric Slam: He summons Atlas Bear, jumps into the air, and slams his fist down, creating a moderate radius of lightning damage. Dash away to avoid this attack.
Tips
  • The Obsidian Samurai is particularly weak to the Sloth Talisman.
  • Apply buffs and debuffs before engaging.
  • Take advantage of openings when he is low on Ki.
  • Use your Living Weapon when he is low on health to finish the fight quickly.
  • Learn his combo range and punish him after his attacks.
  • He also has a buff that appears to enhance his stamina and stagger threshold.
