Explore Nioh's Part 8, detailing weapon types like the Spear and Axe, Guardian Spirits such as Kato and Isonade, and the start of the Isle of Demons mission.

This section of the guide covers various weapon types and Guardian Spirits available in Nioh, along with the beginning of the "Isle of Demons" mission.

Weapon Descriptions:

  • Dual Swords: While each blade lacks individual power, they enable rapid consecutive attacks when used together, making them excellent against numerous assailants.
  • Spear: A long-handled weapon with superior reach for rangy, sweeping attacks. It ricochets wildly if struck against a wall, making it poor for enclosed spaces. Its Attribute Bonus is BODY +1.
  • Axe: A heavy weapon with considerable power, but slow to swing. Enemies find its attacks difficult to deflect. Its Attribute Bonus is STAMINA +1.
  • Kusarigama: Combines a sickle and weighted chain. The sickle allows for quick close-range strikes, and the chain and weight can be thrown for added range. Its Attribute Bonus is DEXTERITY +1.

Before proceeding, players can choose to partake in the "Basic Action Controls" TUTORIAL by pressing TRIANGLE. While potentially boring, it effectively teaches the BASICS OF COMBAT.

Guardian Spirit Choices:

  • Kato: A wolf of the fire elemental. Strengthens attacking power. Attribute Bonus: STRENGTH +1.
  • Isonade: A shark of the water elemental. Amplifies the ability to sense enemies. Attribute Bonus: SPIRIT +1.
  • Daiba-Washi: A hawk of the wind elemental. Increases evasive abilities. Attribute Bonus: SKILL +1.

After selecting a Guardian Spirit, players arrive in Japan, initiating the next mission: "Isle of Demons" (MM002), set in April 1600 near Usuki.

Mission Start: Isle of Demons

Players begin on the shore of an island, a familiar area from Nioh Demos. The initial objective is to investigate the mysteries of the deserted fishing village.

Upon starting the mission, players receive 3 SAMURAI SKILL POINTS, which can be invested immediately. For example, investing in the SWORD tree to acquire the "GRAPPLE" and "MORNING MOON" skills is suggested.

Shrine Mechanics:

The first shrine encountered allows players to level up, change guardian spirits, summon allies, and access other "SHRINE MENU" options. It also revives enemies upon praying.

DLC and demo reward items can be claimed under "BOONS" at the shrine.

Players are directed to explore the area, looting corpses for items and progressing through the mission. An early encounter involves a raider before a corpse.
