In Pathways into Darkness, players can find and utilize various items to aid them in their quest. These items fall into several categories, each serving a distinct purpose in combat, puzzle-solving, and survival.

• Weapons: The primary means of engaging monsters. Some weapons utilize different ammo types, including HE and Sabot rounds.
• Crystals: Special items that grant unique powers after a charging period. Each use increases the recharge time, and eventually, the crystal shatters. The yellow crystal, used for communication with the dead, is an exception and can be used infinitely.
• Potions: Consumable items found in bottles that provide temporary effects, such as invincibility or time manipulation.
• Miscellaneous Items: Objects essential for puzzle-solving (e.g., the red cloak), game mechanics (e.g., the map), carrying other items (e.g., the canvas bag), or unique functions (e.g., the tinderbox).
• Treasure: Valuable items found throughout the pyramid that may offer points, contributing to health regeneration. For every two points collected, the player gains one health point.
