Curveballs

Exploit type advantages by using attacks that counter your opponent's Pokémon's weaknesses. For example, a Ground-type Pokémon with an Electric move can surprise an Electric-type opponent, especially if it's fast enough to act first.

Get Annoying

Status ailments can be highly effective. Moves like Confuse Ray or Swagger can cause opponents to damage themselves. Double Team increases evasiveness, and Sweet Kiss can cause confusion or infatuation based on gender. Confusion and infatuation do not occupy the Pokémon's status ailment slot. Paralysis, caused by moves like Thunder Wave, can help slower Pokémon gain an advantage, while Poison can gradually wear down powerful opponents.

Nullify

Certain Pokémon types offer safe switch-in opportunities. Ground-type Pokémon are immune to Electric attacks, making them ideal against Electric-type opponents. Flying-type Pokémon can avoid Ground attacks, effectively wasting the opponent's move PP even if they are weak to Ground attacks offensively.

Sponge

Pokémon with high HP, like Blissey and Wobbuffet, can endure significant damage. Blissey can also heal itself, making it excellent for absorbing powerful attacks. Pokémon with high defensive stats, such as Snorlax and Starmie, also function as damage sponges and can often recover HP.

Poison Trap

A strategy against opponents who frequently heal is to inflict poison and then use a trapping move like Wrap to prevent them from acting.

• Select Pokémon with minimal type weaknesses.
• Develop a cohesive game plan rather than focusing on isolated roles (e.g., poison specialist, tank). Ensure all Pokémon contribute to an overall strategy.
• Build a team that allows for strategic switching. Include Pokémon that can absorb and recover from damage, as well as fast Pokémon for quick attacks and status infliction.
• Ensure a variety of types to counter different opponents. Assess your team's movepool for any significant weaknesses.
• Include a Pokémon capable of dealing with Dragon-type Pokémon, as they are very powerful.
