Your first steps in Pokémon Black and White! Learn about Route 1's Pokémon encounters, essential items like Potions, and prepare for your journey.

Route 1 is your very first taste of the Unova region in Pokémon Black and White. It's a small path, but don't underestimate it! You'll want to take some time here to train up your Pokémon and catch a couple of new partners to fill out your team. Later on, once you get the Surf ability, this route opens up a lot more, letting you access tougher trainers and find some hidden items.

Pokémon You Can Find:

• Patrat (Normal) - 50% encounter rate in tall grass.
• Lillipup (Normal) - 50% encounter rate in tall grass.
• Farfetch'd (Normal/Flying) - 40% encounter rate, appears during a swarm.
• Audino (Normal) - 100% encounter rate in shaking grass.
• Watchog (Normal) - 36% encounter rate in dark grass.
• Herdier (Normal) - 39% encounter rate in dark grass.
• Scraggy (Dark/Fighting) - 25% encounter rate in dark grass.
• Red Basculin (Water) - 100% encounter rate with Surf or Super Rod.
• Blue Basculin (Water) - 100% encounter rate with Surf or Super Rod.
• Feebas (Water) - 5% encounter rate with Super Rod, 60% in rippling water.
• Milotic (Water) - 5% encounter rate in rippling water with Super Rod.

Points of Interest:

• Once you have Surf, you can battle three trainers across the water with Pokémon between Level 34 and 35.

Walkthrough:

This route is pretty straightforward. You'll start off with a few patches of tall grass where you can catch Pokémon like Patrat and Lillipup. Definitely take a moment to train them up a bit and maybe catch a second one to add to your team. You'll also find a woman near the start who will give you a Potion. Grab it! After passing through about three patches of grass, you'll reach the next town.
