Giant Chasm (Forest)

Navigate the Giant Chasm Forest in Pokémon Black and White, find rare items, encounter high-level Pokémon, and face the legendary Kyurem. A complete walkthrough.

The Giant Chasm Forest presents a challenging maze with one-way ledges and high-level Pokémon. Your goal is to navigate clockwise towards the center, collecting items along the way. Be cautious as Repels may not always be effective due to the Pokémon's high levels.

As you progress, you'll encounter ledges that make backtracking difficult. Pay close attention to the path, especially around the west and north sides of the forest. A tall flight of stairs will be visible, but inaccessible for now. Continue towards the forest's center.

On the south side, be mindful of a ledge leading left; avoid jumping over it to prevent returning to the entrance. Instead, head north through the trees, hop over a small ledge, turn right, and then head south. As you approach a small pond, a sudden snowstorm will envelop the forest, altering the terrain.

With the snow, you can now traverse freely, though item collection is hindered. Proceed to the north-east corner where the tall stairs are located. Ascend the stairs and enter the cave.

Inside the cave, head north to encounter the Legendary Dragon Pokémon, Kyurem, responsible for the snowstorm. This Shiny Kyurem is Level 75 and a formidable opponent.

To catch Kyurem, it's recommended to inflict Paralysis or Sleep to reduce its attacks and increase your catch rate. Lower its HP with weak moves, ideally finishing with False Swipe. Use Ultra Balls, Dusk Balls, or other potent Poké Balls.

A Steel-type Pokémon is advantageous due to Kyurem's powerful Dragon- and Ice-type moves. Be wary of the move Endeavor, which can equalize your Pokémon's HP with Kyurem's, potentially being disastrous if Kyurem's HP is already low. Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to Endeavor but need to be sturdy enough to withstand other attacks.

After catching Kyurem, note that while it may seem less impressive than other legendaries in this generation, it gains significant power in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 with its Black Kyurem and White Kyurem forms.
