Follow our guide to navigate back to Route 3 in Pokémon Black and White. Battle trainers, find items, and learn strategies to progress through the Unova region.

Alright, let's head back towards Route 3! After your encounter with Cheren, you'll want to backtrack a bit. You'll find Bianca waiting for you right where you battled Cheren. Chat with her, and she'll give you a Heal Ball as a reward for your efforts. Pretty nice of her!

Once you're ready to move on, take the path heading south from the T-junction. Keep following the road, and it won't be long before you run into your first opponent on the way back.

Walkthrough
  1. 1

Where: Route 3, near the T-junction.

What: You'll find Bianca standing where you fought Cheren.

What: Talk to Bianca to receive a Heal Ball.

Why: It's a free item to help you out!

  2. 2

Where: South from the T-junction on Route 3.

What: You'll encounter a School Kid trainer.

What: The trainer has a Level 13 Blitzle (Electric-type).

Why: You need to defeat them to proceed south. Grass-types will have an advantage here; Oshawott users should be careful!

  3. 3

Where: Continuing south on Route 3, you'll find an area with thick grass.

What: Cheren will mention that you might encounter two wild Pokémon at once in this grass.

What: You can either go through the grass or battle another School Kid trainer.

Why: To progress further south on the route.

  4. 4

    Where: South on Route 3.

What: Another School Kid trainer awaits. This one has a Level 13 Woobat (Psychic/Flying-type).

Why: To continue your journey south.

  5. 5

Where: Westward across some bridges on Route 3.

What: You'll encounter a Schoolgirl trainer. You can choose to avoid this fight if you wish.

    Why: To progress westward.

  6. 6

    Where: Route 3.

What: Yet another School Kid trainer. This one has a Level 12 Patrat and a Level 12 Purrloin.

Why: To keep moving forward on the path.

  7. 7

Where: Continuing along the path on Route 3.

What: You'll face another School Kid trainer with a Level 12 Pidove (Normal/Flying-type) and a Level 12 Roggenrola (Rock-type).

Why: To clear the path towards the gatehouse.

  8. 8

Where: The end of Route 3.

    What: You'll reach a gatehouse.

What: Walk through the gatehouse to reach your next destination.

Why: This marks the end of this section of Route 3 and leads you onward.

Tips
  • Be mindful of the wild Pokémon encounters in the thick grass; you might face two at once!
  • If you're using Oshawott, be extra careful against the electric-type Blitzle. A Grass-type Pokémon would be ideal here.
  • Remember that some of these trainer battles can be avoided if you're in a hurry or low on health, but battling them gives you experience and potential item rewards.
