Metal and Mine Detector

The Metal and Mine Detector function identically, allowing players to search for items on the world map and within structures. The Metal Detector offers a greater range, making item discovery easier. While not strictly necessary if the player knows exact locations, these detectors can be used in battle from the Tools inventory. Using a detector in combat summons an additional enemy, and if fighting burrowing enemies like the Mine Mole, it forces them to the surface.

The Mine Detector is first available at the Tools Store in Audrey, located in the leftmost of the three buildings. Players must navigate to the back of the counter to interact with the proprietor wearing a blue cap. The Metal Detector can be purchased in Freeza from the Tools Store situated to the far left of the grassy entrance, before reaching the main town area.

To use a detector, access the Tools menu of the character carrying it and select 'USE'. A beep will sound, and the area will be scanned. Discovered items will flash red. Mines may also be detected, causing a small explosion upon interaction. If an item is found, stand on the flashing area and press 'CHECK' to pick it up. The visual indicator is brief, so re-using the detector may be necessary for precise location. As many detected items are tank parts, ensure sufficient inventory space. Carrying a spare tank is recommended to avoid removing existing armor tiles if a new part exceeds capacity.
