Attacks

When you first start out in Risk of Rain Returns, you'll be using the most basic attacks available to your character. For the Commando, this includes firing a blaster and a heat beam.

Commando

The Commando is your starting character, and his primary attacks are straightforward but effective:

• Blaster: This is your rapid-fire basic attack. It's good for consistent damage and hitting multiple enemies if they're lined up.
• Heat Beam: This is a more powerful, channeled attack. You'll need to hold down the button for it, and it emits a continuous beam of heat that deals significant damage in a straight line. Be careful, though – while you're firing the heat beam, you're often a stationary target, so make sure you have a safe position or an escape route planned!

Mastering these two attacks is key to surviving the early waves and setting yourself up for more powerful gear later on.
