Character Creation & Archetypes

Learn how to create your character and choose archetypes in Schedule I. This guide covers initial customization, appearance changes, and starting the game.

As soon as you make a save in Schedule I, you will start a short cutscene which explains some of the lore behind you and how you got here, after that you will see a bus drive by and drop you off, after which you will be able to customize your character. For now, this choice is locked in for the entire time you play on that save. There is no way to change your appearance after you make your character in-game. Luckily, you can still change your appearance in the game files. You can find more about that on the File Editing page. In the full game, you will also be able to change your appearance in different shops, like the barbershop and the clothing shop. On top of that, there will be a tattoo shop where you can purchase tattoos.

When you have finished creating your character, you will spawn right in front of the bus station across the street from the motel. This is possible a hint towards how you will arrive in Hyland Point when the full release is out, as the trailer hints you start somewhere in a desert in an RV in the full release. After spawning in, you will receive the quest "Getting Started" on the left side of your screen telling you to open your phone using the 'Tab' key on your keyboard and reading your messages. When doing so, you will find a message by "Unknown" asking you to come to the payphone. When opening the message, the quest changes into telling you to talk to "U.N." at the payphone. You then find out "U.N." stands for "Uncle Nelson", he instructs you to go fetch his stash which is near the skatepark. You will find it in the ledge near the road leading up to the motel. A dead drop is highlighted if there are items inside. In there, you will find $375, which Uncle Nelson has left for you.
