After the initial cutscene and character customization, you spawn in front of the bus station.

Open your phone ('Tab') and read the message from 'Unknown' to start the 'Getting Started' quest.

Go to the payphone and talk to 'U.N.' (Uncle Nelson).

He instructs you to retrieve his stash near the skatepark, located on a ledge by the motel road. You'll find $375.

Speak to the motel manager, Donna, in the house next to the motel to start the 'Rent a motel room' quest.

After the dialogue, you can crouch behind Donna and pickpocket her to steal back the $75 needed for the room.

Go to room 1 and step inside to complete the quest objective.

Return to the payphone to speak with Uncle Nelson again.

A new questline, 'Gearing Up', begins. Head to the hardware store (marked by a yellow star on the map, or by following the road past your room and turning left).

At the hardware store, you'll be tasked to deposit your cash at the ATM. Use the 'MAX' button for convenience and safety.

Purchase a grow tent, a soil bag, and a watering can from Dan.

It's recommended to also buy 'Plant Trimmers', a 'Packaging Station', and 10 'Baggies' as they are part of the next quest.

Optionally, buy a trash grabber for recycling trash and a 'Trash bag' to dispose of the trash can in your motel room.

If you tell Dan you're a new drug dealer, he might give you 'Speed Grow', which speeds up plant growth.

Return to your motel room, place the grow tent, and add soil to the pot using the 'E' key.

Go back to the payphone to talk to Uncle Nelson, who introduces you to Albert Hoover.

Open your phone and message Albert Hoover to order seeds. Select 'I need to order a dead drop'.

Purchase one 'OG Kush' seed. Albert will deliver it to a highlighted 'dead drop' location within 30 in-game minutes (30 seconds).

Pay Albert by placing cash in the dead drop behind the hardware store. He will take only what is owed.

Retrieve the seed from the dead drop.

Sow the seed in the grow tent by holding the seed and pressing 'E' when prompted.

Fill the watering can at the sink and water the plant in the grow tent.

Sleep in your motel room to advance plant growth and avoid wasting water. Plants grow approximately 15% per in-game hour.

Once the plant is fully grown, harvest it using the 'Plant Trimmers'.

Place down the 'Packaging Station'.

Interact with the packaging station, place baggies in the 'Packaging' slot, and buds in the 'Input' slot.

Press 'Pack', then drag each bud into a baggie, and finally drag the baggie into the hopper. Packaged weed will appear in the output.

Tips

Speed-runners often open the motel room door and step just inside before immediately starting the next quest.
Depositing all your cash at the ATM prevents loss if you are caught by police or die.
Holding 'Shift' while grabbing items from storage allows you to take the entire stack at once. Right-clicking and scrolling lets you select a custom amount.
Watering your plants right before sleeping is efficient as it maximizes growth and prevents water wastage.
OG Kush is recommended for beginners due to its ease of cultivation and versatility in mixing with other strains.
Dead drops are highlighted when they contain items.
