Part 42

Ark 2 Part 42 walkthrough: navigate Palencia Tower, defeat Necromancer and Sacred Devil, and unlock secret floors 77 and 44.

Tosh rejoins as you enter, immediately triggering a mandatory battle (#1) against enemies that inflict petrification. The basement prison area is inaccessible. Proceed north to a lift that takes you to 30F. Upstairs, another immediate (#1) battle awaits. Use the stairs in the EAST to ascend to 31F. A #2 battle will occur on 31F regardless of the stairs taken. The map's "C" stairway leads to a switch that opens a door in a different segment. Return to 30F, take the north stairway, then a west exit to the previously locked door to find the [Needle Shoes] (LV 1/10, ATK 12/25). A wall switch allows the elevator to reach 33F. Return to 31F and go up.

On 33F, you'll find a healing point and two escalators. North of the healing point is a chest containing the [Magic Gauntlet] (LV 4/10, ATK 13/21, Up MAG ability). Use the leftmost escalator to go up to 34F, then enter the west room to find the [Bandit Knife] (LV 6/8, ATK 16/18, Cause Critical Hits). The north door there is locked. Take the rightmost escalator up to 34F, triggering a #2 battle, and find a switch to open the locked north door. 34F also has a south-opening dead-end room with a teleporter leading to the west room of 35F, which is currently barred. The north door from 34F leads upstairs.

On 35F, grab the [Hellfire Flail] (Earth-elem, LV 4/12, ATK 16/28) and proceed south for a #2 battle. Of the five teleporters, only the southeastern one leads to a small enclosed stairway in the same room. A switch in the west room opens the blocked stairway in another segment (accessible via the 34F teleporter). The east room has a downward-facing escalator that cannot be used. The enclosed 35F stairway leads nowhere; use the 34F teleporter to reach the "I" exit on the map.

This path leads to a #2 battle. Flip the switch to activate the 36F escalator. Return to 35F's main area, use the SE teleporter to reach 36F, and ascend. Heal up before reaching the 37F area.

On 37F, a small battle (#1) occurs. Afterwards, ignore the east door and go up the stairs to find a switch that allows the elevator to reach the 99th floor. Flip this switch nine times to unlock the 77th floor and ten more times to unlock the 44th floor. Before using the elevator, take the left escalator to find a [Dragon Katana] (Earth-type, Lv 10/14, ATK 29/36) and a [Crescent Ax] (Light-type, LV 2/15, ATK 18/44). The other escalator is not important.

OPTIONAL: FLOORS 77 & 44

Using the method described above, these secret areas can be unlocked. On Floor 77, find treasures including:

• [Life Nut]
• [Magic Leaf]
• [Revival Dust]
• [Parade Coat] (LV 1/10, DEF 6/12)
• [WindWonder Card] (LV 2/14, ATK 9/21, Wind-elemental)
• [Book of Marin] (LV 0/0, DEF 7/7, Increase Item Find; Shu-only)

The Book of Marin is useful for Shu to steal items more easily. Floor 44 contains a #3 battle that can be skipped.

Return to the 37th floor and take the elevator to the 99th. The Sabatico Shrine will be under attack, requiring Elc's team to fend off an attack (#4). Elc is mandatory, and no one from Palencia Tower can join. Use Elc's Invincible when needed. Protect Kukuru (LV 44, HP 110, 0/147 MP) from the enemies. Diekbeck's power units are effective. Be aware that the opposition can heal, so defeat them quickly.

The POV switches to the 99th-floor crew. Reach 100F, heal up, and enter the boss' room to face Lv 80 Monji (F, 195, 106, uses same attacks as Tosh). Tosh will fight this battle alone.
