How to Change Character

Learn how to switch between Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Discover methods like using the inventory, map viewpoints, and during cutscenes.

To unlock Yasuke as a playable character in Assassin's Creed Shadows, progress to Chapter 4 and Assassination 4, then complete the Mibonu Showdown quest. While Yasuke is playable during a short combat tutorial in the prologue, you will be locked with Naoe for approximately ten hours.

After completing the Mibune Showdown quest, you can freely switch between Naoe and Yasuke. There are several ways to change characters: open your in-game inventory and look at the bottom of the screen, open the map and find an unlocked Viewpoint or Kakurega to fast travel as either character, or during some story cutscenes, you will be asked who you'd like to play as when normal gameplay resumes.

Certain objectives, Legendary Chest locations, and other areas may only be accessible by one character. Although you can play as one character predominantly, there will be times you are forced to change. Naoe and Yasuke have different playstyles and approach objectives in different ways.
