Malnok is a Stronghold located in the Fractured Peaks region of Diablo IV. Enemies within Malnok will scale to your player level. To reach Malnok, travel east from Kyovashad, cross the eastern bridge, and continue through the passes until you reach the large valley area. A hill path from the south leads into the stronghold.
Upon entering Malnok, you'll encounter a fierce storm and frozen surroundings. Your primary objective is to find and stop the source of this storm. Be prepared to fight packs of Ice Clan enemies throughout your search.
The source of the storm is a massive brute in the center of the village, surrounded by ice. Three rays of light emanate from it, indicating three Elite enemies, the Ice Clan Stormcallers, that must be defeated to stop the blizzard.
Find and Slay Ice Clan Stormcallers
There are three Ice Clan Stormcallers to defeat. Each is an Elite enemy protected by a Ritual Guardian.
Western Ice Clan Stormcaller
Head southwest from the village center and climb a wall. Follow the path to find the first Stormcaller. You must first defeat the Ritual Guardian, Coldaxe, to remove the barrier protecting the Stormcaller.
Southeastern Ice Clan Stormcaller
Travel east of the village and look southeast near a house to find another wall to climb. Follow this path to encounter a group of Ice Clan enemies. Defeat the Ritual Guardian, Winterspear, before you can face the Stormcaller.
Northeastern Ice Clan Stormcaller
After defeating the second Stormcaller, go into the nearby house to loot a chest. Then, head north from the house and scale another wall. You will need to defeat the Ritual Guardian, Rimescar, before you can access and defeat the final Stormcaller.
Slay Frosthorn, Ice Clan Champion
With the blizzard gone, the final obstacle is Frosthorn, the boss of Malnok Stronghold. Recover at the Health Well before engaging him.
Frosthorn is a difficult boss with a large arena and ice-based attacks. Resistance to Ice is highly recommended.
Frosthorn's Attacks:
- Ground Pound: Frosthorn leaps and slams his axe, damaging nearby enemies and releasing ice missiles.
- Cleave: Frosthorn swings his club in front of him, dealing damage and releasing ice missiles in the direction of the swing. He may perform this twice consecutively.
- Icy Explosions: Triggered at his first potion drop, these explosions occur in the center of the arena, freezing players caught within.
- Outer Icy Explosions: Triggered at his second potion drop, these explosions occur around the outer edge of the arena, requiring players to move inward to avoid being frozen.
Frosthorn's fight becomes chaotic when he drops below half HP. Save your ultimates for this phase and try to defeat him quickly. Constant movement is crucial, especially in the later stages, to weave through the Icy Explosions and avoid being frozen.
