Walkthrough
- 1Past the crate, sneak-shoot or fight enemies in the hallway. Use the red wheel to activate steam vents.
- 2As aliens teleport in, retreat to a nearby room and use the back-right door. Wait, then lure surviving aliens into the steam to die.
- 3If only vortigaunts appear, use a grenade to lure out a grunt. Shut off the steam using the wheel.
- 4Quicksave and sneak-shoot the two grunts around the corner past the steam vents with hornets or heavier weapons. Recruit the security guard if needed.
- 5At the end of their hallway, find a ladder leading down to an optional part of section c3a2f. Crouch-hop onto the railing to safely reach the ladder.
- 6In the room below, note the numbers 2, 4, and 7 written in blood near a reactor core diagram.
- 7Use stacked crates to hop over a fence and land on a walkway in a dark room.
- 8Crouch-walk under a fallen beam to find health and gauss gun ammo.
- 9Crouch-walk back, use the ladder on the fence to get back over, and return up the tall ladder to section c3a2c.
- 10In section c3a2c, go through the "CORE LEVEL B" door. Approach the teleporter orb closest to the core fence.
- 11Watch for a rotating platform to move under the orb past the fence. Jump into your current orb to land on the moving platform.
- 12Rotate around ports 1-3. Jump into port 1 to reach a headcrab area.
- 13In the grate-floored room, kill the headcrab ahead. Another will drop near the ladder; kill it and any subsequent ones.
- 14Kill headcrabs in the two dark side niches along the right wall (three per niche, one at a time).
- 15Look left from the grate-floored room's edge to spot and kill a headcrab near the wall. Wait for more to fall or check the ceiling.
- 16Kill the headcrab to the left of the portal on the platform at the other end of the room.
- 17Break floor gratings with altfire hornets or walk along the floor beam to the ladder on the other side.
- 18Jump to the ladder, climb it to the portal platform, grab hand grenades from a crate, and go through the portal to return to the starting teleporter area.
- 19Back on a rotating platform, go through port 3 to a secret supply room. Use the exit portal to return to the starting area.
- 20Go through port 2 to reach the next level. Jump to the port 2 ledge, timing it so the rotating platform isn't directly in front of port 2.
- 21Quicksave. Look up for the portal directly above. Wait for a rotating platform under that portal, then back into port 2.
- 22Immediately crouch as the platform moves under a pipe between ports 6 and 4. Wait to jump into port 5, which leads to a room with supplies and three scientists.
- 23Go through the room's door and down a hallway to another room with supplies and a portal back to the starting teleporter area.
- 24Go through port 2 again to reach the next level. Jump to port 4's ledge and quicksave.
- 25Look up and right for the port 4 portal. Back into it when a moving platform is present to land on.
- 26Crouch when the platform moves under a pipe. Jump into port 8.
Tips
- If enemies see you in the first hallway, retreat to the fallen door in the elevator shaft and shoot from there.
- The security guy can help if you struggle with the two grunts around the corner past the steam vents.
- Use the flashlight to spot headcrabs in dark niches.
- If headcrabs aren't falling, check the ceiling or look for any stuck near it.
- When jumping to port ledges, try to time your jump when the rotating platform is just coming around to the port, not directly in front of it.
- Crouch immediately after entering a port if the platform is about to move under a pipe.
- Health pack and gauss gun ammo in the optional side area.
- Supplies in secret rooms accessed via teleporter ports 3 and 5.
- Three scientists in the room after port 5.
