If you obtained 0-6 Chaos Emeralds, Sonic falls from outer space while the Master Emerald remains there. Tails appears in the Tornado, you land on the biplane, and return to the Floating Island, which remains in the sea. You then leave in your plane.
After completing the game, watch the credits. A short cutscene will play depending on your Chaos Emerald collection. If you collected all 7, you will see the wreckage of the Death Egg and an EggRobo Badnik emerging. If you did not collect all 7, you will see Robotnik with the Master Emerald.
