Alright, let's talk about some tricky parts in Sonic 2! We're going to cover how to handle Robotnik when he shows up, and then deal with that surprise visit from Knuckles.

Robotnik Encounter:

When Robotnik makes his grand entrance, your first move is to hit him just once. Don't hang around – immediately dash to the right. He's going to drop a fireball on the bridge, and yep, it'll collapse. After that, he'll vanish behind the waterfall and reappear on the right side of the screen. Now, he'll start shooting fireballs at you. Just jump to dodge 'em!

He's got a pattern: he'll shoot fireballs both vertically and horizontally. Once he's done with that barrage, that's your cue to attack him. Be extra careful if he pops up near the eastern waterfall. Sometimes, he'll disappear behind it, and if you're not careful, you might fall into the water below, which means losing a life. If you happen to have a Flame Shield equipped, this fight becomes a whole lot easier – those fireballs just won't hurt you!

Prison Egg & Knuckles Surprise:

Next up, you'll see a Prison Egg descending from above. Don't jump too early! Wait until it's at a good height, right where you can reach it with a jump. Then, leap up and hit its plunger. Shortly after, you'll be crossing a bridge, and BAM! Knuckles shows up. He'll press a switch, and the bridge will start to collapse.

Here's the key: if you time your jump to the left just right, you can avoid falling into the water. Unfortunately, you can't really fight Knuckles here; he's way too high up, and even Tails can't fly up there to help. You'll have to drop down into the water, which will lead you into Hydrocity Zone.
