Learn how to deep-sea dive in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Discover how to get a wetsuit, find sea creatures, and meet Pascal for special rewards.

Alright, so you wanna dive into the ocean and find some cool stuff in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? It’s super easy once you know how! This feature was added in the Summer Update: Wave 1, and it’s a great way to fill out the museum or just find some neat treasures.

Here’s the lowdown:

First things first, you need a wetsuit! You can snag one from Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for 3,000 Bells. They come in a bunch of different colors, so pick one you like! If you’re trying to save your Bells, you can also grab a Nook-branded wetsuit at the Nookstop terminal for 800 Nook Miles. Once you’ve got it, make sure to equip it!

To jump in, just head to the beach, some rocks, or even the pier. When you’re at the edge of the water, press the **A** button, and your character will hop right in. To swim around, you’ll just need to mash the **A** button to paddle along. When you’re ready to get out, swim back to any shore.

Finding those sneaky sea creatures:

Keep your eyes peeled for bubbles rising to the surface. Those are your clues! When you spot some, swim over to them. Once you’re right above the bubbles, press **Y** to dive down. Some of these critters will try to make a run for it, so you might need to adjust your position a bit underwater. The bubbles can be different sizes, so watch out for those!

When you’re directly over the creature and dive, your character will grab it for you. Remember to donate the first of each new species you find to Blathers at the museum – he’ll love it! Some sea creatures are chill and won’t move when you dive, but others are speedy escape artists. For the fast ones, the best trick is to get right on top of the bubbles before you dive. It takes a little practice, but don’t worry if you miss – they won’t despawn if you fail to catch them before you have to come up for air. You can just try again!

Meeting Pascal, the Scallop-loving Otter:

Here’s a cool part: the first time you find a scallop, a friendly otter named Pascal will pop up! He’s super interested in your scallop and will offer you a DIY recipe in exchange. These recipes often require Pearls, which are pretty rare but can be found on the ocean floor. Pascal also loves pearls and will trade them for scallops. You can only trade with him once per day, and he’ll only show up if you’ve found a few scallops that day. The DIYs he gives are usually part of the awesome mermaid set!
