All you need to do is donate two specimens – that could be bugs, fish, or sea creatures – to him. Once you've got the recipe, you'll need 5 tree branches and a stone to craft it. Just a heads-up, this axe is pretty basic and breaks after just a few uses, so don't get too attached!

Stone Axe

Ready for something a bit more sturdy? To get the Stone Axe recipe, you'll need to head over to the Nookstop in Resident Services. Look for the 'Pretty Good Tools Recipes' pack and buy it for 3,000 Nook Miles. Once you have that, you'll craft the Stone Axe by first making a flimsy axe, and then combining it with 3 pieces of wood. This axe is way more durable than the flimsy one, and the best part is it's not strong enough to cut down trees! So you can chop away at those wood resources without worrying about accidentally felling a whole tree.

Axe (Iron Axe)

This is the standard, reliable axe you'll probably use the most. Just like the Stone Axe, you'll need to purchase the 'Pretty Good Tools Recipes' from the Nookstop for 3,000 Nook Miles. To craft the Iron Axe, you'll need a flimsy axe, 3 pieces of wood, and an iron nugget. This axe is quite durable, but here's the important part: if you chop at the same tree three times, it *will* cut it down. So, be mindful of this when you're gathering materials. You don't want to accidentally chop down a tree you were hoping to get lots of wood from!
