Finding New Villagers

Learn how to find and invite new villagers to your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island using Nook Miles Tickets and Mystery Islands. Make your island unique!

So, you've set up some empty plots for new islanders and now you're ready to find some neighbors! This is your chance to have a say in who moves in, rather than letting Tom Nook pick completely at random. It's a super fun part of the game, but it does take a little effort.

To start searching for potential villagers, you'll need to use Nook Miles Tickets (NMTs). Remember, you can only find new villagers when you have those empty plots available. Also, you can only invite one new villager per day, so be prepared to make multiple trips if you're looking for specific types of residents!

Some players have a specific list of villagers they're hoping to find – these are often called “Dreamies.” If you have some in mind, you can definitely try to find them on Mystery Islands. Just a heads-up, though: there are over 400 villagers in the game, so finding your absolute favorites early on can be a real challenge, especially since NMTs cost a good chunk of Nook Miles. For your first few villagers, it might be a good idea to be a little flexible. Don't feel pressured to invite everyone you meet if their personality or look doesn't quite fit what you're going for!
