Hey there! So you want to get into bug catching, huh? Nets are super important for that in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Let's break down how to get your hands on them.

Flimsy Net

You'll actually get the DIY recipe for the Flimsy Net pretty early on. Tom Nook will give it to you after you do that first DIY workshop he asks you to complete. If you happen to miss it or just want another copy, you can also buy the recipe from Timmy at Resident Services, or later on when Nook's Cranny opens up.

To craft a Flimsy Net, you'll need 5 tree branches. Just wander around your island and give those trees a good shake – branches will fall right off!

Just a heads-up, this net isn't the most durable. It's pretty fragile and will break after you catch just a few bugs, so use it wisely!

Net

For a more sturdy net, you'll want to upgrade. First, head over to the Nookstop in Resident Services and pick up the Pretty Good Tools recipe. That'll cost you 3,000 Nook Miles. Once you have that, you'll need to craft a flimsy net first (if you don't have one already). Then, take it to a crafting bench and use some iron nuggets to upgrade it into the standard Net.

Where do you get iron nuggets? Easy! Just hit those big boulders you find on your island with a shovel. Each hit can give you iron nuggets, clay, or stone.

This net is way more durable than the flimsy one, so you'll be able to catch a lot more bugs before it breaks!
