Follow this walkthrough for Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition to navigate the Heliodorian Foothills, recruit Erik, and begin Act II.
Walkthrough
- 1After the opening cinematic, you wake up in a church. Smash nearby pots for a Strong Medicine and a Flaxen Thread. You can use the bed to recover HP and MP.
- 2Speak to the Priest to learn about recent events.
- 3Exit the church and speak to Erik. He will offer to help you avoid Hendrick if you retrieve something he left in Heliodor. Agree to help him.
- 4Erik will join your party and give you a disguise.
- 5Erik can use Swords, Knives, and Boomerangs. Knives are recommended for his ability to inflict status effects and use Half-Inch to steal.
- 6Learn about Pep Powers, combination attacks usable when multiple party members are in a Pepped Up state.
- 7Focus on learning Erik's Sleeper Hit, Pursecutter, and Half-Inch abilities from the Knives skill tree.
- 8Equip Erik with any available armor and transfer Medicinal Herbs to his inventory. Set battle tactics to manual control for Erik if desired.
- 9Head to the nearby Warrior and accept Quest 04: It Takes Two to Tango. You need to defeat an enemy using The Real Decoy Pep Power.
- 10To perform The Real Decoy, both the Hero and Erik must be in a Pepped Up state. Fight battles until this occurs, then use the Pep Power to complete the quest.
- 11Explore the Heliodorian Foothills for items:
- Back of the Church: Single Phial (barrel)
- 12Well outside the Church: Pointy Hat (chest), Small Scale (Sparkly Spot), Hardy Hide (pot)
- 13Northwest: Medicinal Herb, Antidotal Herb, Cottontop (Flower gathering point), Cottontop (near waterfall)
- 14Far West: Seed of Strength (chest), Beast Bone (Sparkly Spot)
- 15Ore Gathering Point: Copper Ore x2, Flintstone
- 16Tree Gathering Point: Flurry Feather, Buzzberries x2
- 17Outside Heliodor entrance: Butterfly Wing
- 18Your next destination is north, back towards Heliodor.
