Alright, let's get El Alicanto to join your party in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes! He's a pretty cool character, and you'll find him up north on Snowpeak Pass, which is that snowy area just above Athrabalt. You can't just waltz in there anytime, though. You'll need to have progressed through the main story a bit, specifically after you've dealt with the story events in Athrabalt. The best time to go is usually after you get the quest to head to Castle Harganthia, or once you've triggered those scenes with Markus at your base. Once you're at that point in the game, you can head back to Snowpeak Pass and take the northern route.

Keep pushing through that windy path until you reach the northernmost section. From there, look for a trail heading north. If you're in the right spot, a cutscene will trigger as you get closer to the end, and El Alicanto will show up. He's eager to join you, but he wants to test your skills first with a one-on-one duel, kind of like that spar you had with Seign earlier on.

El Alicanto Duel Strategy

Just like with any other duel in the game, the key to winning is listening to what El Alicanto shouts. He's pretty straightforward and mostly sticks to two phrases, each corresponding to a specific command you can use. Here's the breakdown:

For most of the duel, you'll only hear the first two phrases. Pay close attention to whether he's ready to be tested or if he's telling you to seize an opportunity, and choose your Attack or Counter command accordingly. Keep this up until your Break gauge fills up. Once that happens, El Alicanto will start using his third, more powerful move. This is your cue to use the Break command! Nail this, and the fight should be over pretty quickly, with El Alicanto agreeing to join your party afterward. Congrats!
