Alright, let's talk about Runes in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes! Think of them as your characters' special moves and passive buffs – they're super important for customizing your party. The catch? You're limited on how many you can equip at first, and some slots are picky about what kind of Rune they'll take.

When you kick things off, each character only gets one Rune slot. To snag more, you'll need to get your characters to level up. As they gain experience and level up, they'll unlock additional slots for you to play with.

It's not just about quantity, though; the type of slot matters too. You'll find slots that can take any Rune, which are the best but not super common. Others are more specialized, meant for magic, skills, passive abilities, or enhancements. Keep an eye out, because some characters come with pre-assigned Runes in certain slots that you can't change – that's just how they are!

You can check out all the details about your characters' Rune slots, including their levels and types, right from the Status screen. Just navigate to a character and look for that info.

Where to Equip Your Runes

Now, here's where it gets a little tricky: you can't just slap Runes on from the regular Equipment or Status menus. You'll need to find specific places to do this.

First up, keep an eye out for Rune Shops in the towns you visit. These shops are where you can buy some basic Runes, and more importantly, where you can actually equip them. You'll spot a Rune Shop on your map by a little four-pointed star symbol. Head into one of these shops and select the Change Runes option to start swapping Runes from your inventory onto your characters.

But wait, there's more! Besides the Rune Shops, you can also change your Runes by chatting with Sumire, the NPC who handles your storage. Initially, you'll find her at the inn in Eltisweiss. Once you get your own base up and running, she'll move there, and you can access her services from your base.

When you talk to Sumire, make sure to choose the Gear Prep option. This will open up the menu where you can equip Runes to your characters. So, remember: Rune Shops or Sumire's Gear Prep – those are your go-to spots for managing your Runes!
