Upon entering Werne Village, you'll find it heavily guarded. The first guard can be bypassed by waiting for him to face north and then running past.

Proceed to the stairs where a guard faces you directly. Run up to him; a cutscene will trigger, revealing barrels as a means of stealth.

Use the barrels to hide from guards. Wait for them to turn away from the barrel, then hide inside until they look away.
