Recruit Mellore in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

After finishing the prologue and the North Runebarrows dungeon, you'll find yourself in Eltisweiss. Your first order of business is to start gathering recruits for your army. To find Mellore, head towards the southern exit of Eltisweiss. Just north of that exit, you'll see some stairs. Go up them to trigger a scene where Mellore asks you for directions to Redthroat Ridge.

Nowa, being the good guy he is, questions why a child would be heading to such a dangerous place and decides to follow her. After exiting Eltisweiss, you'll see another scene, and then you'll be on the world map. Redthroat Ridge is located on the eastern side of the area, so it's pretty easy to find. Once you arrive and head inside, you'll meet Mellore again, and this time she'll join your party as a guest. You can control her in battle, but you won't be able to change her equipment.

Walkthrough

Head to the southern side of Eltisweiss.

Go towards the stairs just north of the southern exit to trigger a scene with Mellore.

After the scene, exit Eltisweiss.

Travel to Redthroat Ridge, located on the eastern end of the area.

Enter Redthroat Ridge and proceed through the dungeon. It's fairly linear with some dead ends containing treasure chests, so be sure to explore them.

At the end of the dungeon, you'll face a boss.

Boss Guide: Nerthus

Nerthus can be a tough fight, especially if you haven't recruited many party members yet. The key to this fight is a gimmick involving two Magical Pretty Grimoires, one on your left and one on your right. At the start of each round, Nerthus burrows underground and then pops up on either the left or right side. You need to have a character interact with one of the Grimoires to summon a magical hammer.

If the hammer is summoned on the same side as Nerthus, it will deal significant damage.
If the hammer is summoned on the opposite side, it will miss.

It seems pretty random which side Nerthus will appear on, so you'll just have to hope you guess correctly, though sometimes it might alternate. Landing the hammer hits is crucial for bringing Nerthus down quickly.

Nerthus Attacks:

Claw Swipes: Hits a single character.
Rock Throw: Another single-target attack.
Earthquake: Hits your entire party. This attack is used after a short scene where a horn on Nerthus's head grows slightly bigger, which seems to happen around a certain HP threshold.

Nerthus might also attack twice in a round, which appears to be random. Just keep up your strategy, focusing on landing those hammer hits, and you'll eventually defeat the boss.
