If you've done the previous parts, you know the drill, but if not, you can find Sumi Bozu chilling on the east side of Mukurogai, just southwest of the Paradise bar.

    Prepare for the fight! This is the final showdown with Sumi Bozu, and he's gotten even stronger. The good news is, if you've been training and upgrading your gear, this fight should feel pretty familiar, almost a carbon copy of the previous two encounters.
Tips
  • Sumi Bozu's Strengths & Weaknesses: His biggest advantage is his spear's reach, and his attacks hit hard, especially on higher difficulties. However, he's quite aggressive, which is actually his main weakness. He'll constantly try to attack, leaving himself open for you to counter.
  • Gunman Style Strategy: This is often the easiest way to go. Equip Trooper Cards like Rapid Fire (Offensive), Essence of the Violent Wind (Defensive), and any healing cards you have, especially one with Medicine Box.
  • When the fight starts, immediately back away to create some distance. If he charges, try to bait an attack by stopping briefly and then evading.
  • Once you have some space, use your Finishing Blow attack ( / ) to knock him down.
  • If you have Heat, rush in and use a Heat Action while he's down. If not, spam the / () combo, especially with Rapid Fire active.
  • If he closes the distance again, either use Essence of the Violent Wind followed by a Heat Action (if available) or sprint to the other side of the arena, baiting another attack.
  • You can repeat this for the whole fight. Keep in mind the / knockdown isn't guaranteed every time. Make sure you have Enhanced Rounds equipped to conserve ammo. If ammo isn't a concern, various special ammos can speed things up.
  • Swordsman Style Strategy: Another straightforward method involves using a weapon with poison, like the Juzu-Maru.
    • Land a few / combos to poison Sumi Bozu.
    • Once poisoned, you can basically stand there and hold block for most of the fight. Keep an eye out for when the poison wears off and reapply it as needed. Some minor attacks might still get through, so stay alert!
  • Brawler and Wild Dancer Styles: While these styles can work, especially if you're skilled, the Gunman and Swordsman styles generally offer a safer and more efficient approach with less risk. If you're confident in your combo game, you can certainly take him down normally.
    • After you defeat Sumi Bozu, he'll dedicate his life to becoming a monk. As a thank you, he'll give you the Berserker Charm.
