Complete guide to Substory 27, The Mysterious Merchant, in Like a Dragon: Ishin!. Learn where to start, how to find Tomatoes, Loincloth, Scrap Paper, Natto, and Ginseng, and claim your rewards.
Walkthrough
- 1To begin Substory 27, "The Mysterious Merchant," you must be in Chapter 4 and have access to the Another Life feature. Head to Rakugai and locate the Arms Dealer. South of the Arms Dealer, you'll find a well and some stairs. Ascend the stairs and look west to find a makeshift hut. Interact with the hut to start the substory.
- 2The merchant's first request is for 10 Tomatoes. These must be grown in your farm via Another Life. You'll need to spend Virtue to unlock the ability to grow tomatoes and expand your farm space. Tomatoes take time to grow, so you may need to wait for multiple harvests.
- 3The second item requested is a Loincloth. You can purchase this from the Arms Dealer in Rakugai. If you already have a high-grade Loincloth from defeating the Large Man in the main story, equip it to ensure you select the correct one when prompted.
- 4Next, the merchant will ask for Scrap Paper. This can be obtained from the Lottery game, located in Fushimi on the northern end of the main shopping street. Play the lottery until you win Scrap Paper.
- 5The fourth item needed is Natto. Purchase this from either the Rice Shop or the Fermented Goods store on Shijo Street in Rakunai.
- 6The final item is Ginseng. While it can be grown in your farm after significant Virtue investment and farm expansions, it is much easier to purchase it from the General Goods store on the eastern end of the main street in Rakunai.
- 7Once all items are gathered, return them to the Mysterious Merchant to complete the substory.
Tips
- Growing Tomatoes and Ginseng takes in-game time. You can either wait by the garden or engage in other activities while they grow.
- To make Ginseng available for purchase or growth, you must first buy all Farm Expansions (16,000 Virtue) and then unlock Ginseng itself (10,000 Virtue).
- Equipping the high-grade Loincloth before giving one to the merchant prevents accidental use of a story-required item.
