Alright, let's get this Substory sorted! This one, 'All in the Hips,' is pretty straightforward and unlocks a fun little minigame. You'll stumble into it naturally after you've finished the bit where you rescue that Shinto Priest early in Chapter 2. Once that's done, you'll have Fushimi, the first town, open for exploring.

Your first stop is the Umai Udon shop. It's up on the northern end of Fushimi Ichibangai, that main street packed with shops. Just walk in, chat with the owner, and order anything off the menu. This is just to get on his good side. Then, head back in a second time and order some udon again. That's the trigger for this Substory to officially kick off.

So, you go back in, and the owner, grateful for your patronage (even if it's only been twice!), offers you his most expensive udon for free. He'll then start talking about how making udon is 'all in the hips,' but in his demonstration, he pulls a muscle. That's your cue to step in and help out at the Udon Shop, kicking off the minigame!

How to Play the Udon Shop Minigame

Your role here is super simple: you're just putting the toppings on the udon bowls as the owner makes them. You'll see button prompts pop up at the bottom of the screen. Each of the four face buttons corresponds to a specific topping. The key is to pay attention to the order the customers request them. Once all the orders for a round are displayed, a timer starts counting down. You need to input the exact sequence of button presses before that timer hits zero.

Nail the sequence, and you move on to the next round. These rounds get tougher, with more button presses (up to seven!) and faster timers. Mess up even one button press, and you'll fail the round, losing one of the three hearts you have at the top left. Lose all three hearts, and your shift is over. Don't worry too much, though, because there's a special 'Chef's Recommendation' button (it looks like a / symbol). This is your cheat code! It'll simplify all the orders in that round to just one button press. You only get one of these per shift, but if you fail a round, you get it back, so you effectively have three chances to use it per attempt at the minigame.

For this Substory, the owner sets a goal of earning 3 ryo, but honestly, you don't need to hit that target. Just playing the minigame until you lose all three hearts will complete it. Whether you earn 6 ryo or just 100 mon, the goal is to get through your shift. Earning 3 ryo will end it automatically, but if you don't, just keep playing until you're out of hearts.
