Part 31

Head north from the three-way intersection (314 Statue Junction) towards the Gas Station (320 Gas Station).

At the Gas Station, run between the cars to a metal shutter. Use the RUST HEX CRANK on the adjacent hole, then use the WRENCH on the broken crank.

Two RED HERBS may appear near the gas pumps; if not, they will appear later at 323 Substation Gate.

Enter the shop (321 Service Shop).

Three bottles of GUNPOWDER A may appear on a table here, or later at 120 Office Storage.

As you approach the front counter, either Carlos or Nicholai will appear, depending on your previous Live Selection choices.

If Nicholai appears, he will investigate the garage. If Carlos appears, he will warn you about an approaching zombie horde and then charge outside when you try to go behind the counter.

Go behind the counter to find a FIRST AID SPRAY.

Solve the puzzle to unlock the storage cabinet: Light up the buttons that match the illuminated letters on the panel. Pressing a button toggles its light and the lights of the two adjacent buttons. Match the letter combinations three times.

Upon completing the puzzle, you will receive the MACHINE OIL, a cable car part.

As Jill attempts to leave, the Gas Station will catch fire. Exit the building quickly.

Return to the Gas Station (320 Gas Station) after a possible extra scene if Carlos was present. Another cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will play, and the gas station will be destroyed, along with any remaining items. If Carlos was present, he will leave to search for supplies.

Head back towards 310 Firetruck Street from 314 Statue Junction.

As you run down the long straightaway past the intersection, a locked green door will burst open.

Eliminate the four zombies in the newly opened area containing a statue of Raccoon City mayor Michael Warren.

Three GREEN HERBS may be present here, unless they already appeared at 115 Hose Alley.

Stand in front of the statue and press the green switch to receive the BRONZE BOOK, which becomes the BOOK OF WISDOM when Checked.

Proceed towards 305 Fountain Street.

At 310 Firetruck Street, check the corpse next to the gate for H.GUN BULLETS if you haven't already. Exit into the Arcade (308 Shopping Arcade).

Visit the Storeroom in the Arcade to rearrange your inventory. You can drop the WRENCH here as it won't be useful for a while, but you will need the BOOK OF WISDOM.

Deal with six newly spawned zombies in the Arcade. Make a right at the T-junction and proceed to the door.

At 305 Fountain Street, run down the corridor towards the sparking fountain.

Use the BOOK OF WISDOM while standing in front of the square hole.

Take the BRONZE COMPASS (or FUTURE COMPASS) from the left.

Return to the mayor's statue at 314 Statue Junction.

Go back to 310 Firetruck Street.

Three dogs or a flock of crows will burst from a nearby store window. Dodge them and hit the gate.

At 314 Statue Junction, stand in front of the statue and use the FUTURE COMPASS.

Examine the statue again to receive a BATTERY.

Proceed to 304 Maintenance Access.

Be aware that new enemies, either two more Drain Deimoses or two Brain Suckers (a nastier green version of the Deimos that can spit poison mucous), will appear in 304 Maintenance Access. You may be able to avoid them if careful.
