Learn about healing spells like Healing, Faerie Light, and Restoration in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, including who can cast them and how to level them up.
Walkthrough
- 1Healing spells gain proficiency only when cast during battle.
- 2The two mages, Sophia and Adray, are the only characters who can learn advanced healing magic. Nel is the only fighter who natively has Healing.
- 3You can teach Healing and Antidote to any fighter by using one of the four Decrepit Tomes found throughout the game (two very early).
- 4At Lv10, Healing heals 80-87% HP, Faerie Light heals 60-66% HP (all), and Restoration revives with 50% HP/MP.
- 5Antidote and Cure Condition heal status ailments like Poison, Paralysis, and Petrification.
Tips
- Boosting your healing spell levels is helpful but not necessary, especially on lower difficulty levels.
- Casting spells consumes Fury like any other action.
- Items and magic like Faerie Light are roughly equally effective for healing the whole party non-stop, both allowing you to heal every 5 seconds with minimized casting time.
- Items can be used by anyone and lock you in place for a shorter period, but have limited supply and need to be created/refined.
- Faerie Light can only be used by Sophia and Adray, needs to be leveled up, locks you in place for a longer period, but attracts magic and has unlimited use.
- Lightning is considered part of the Wind element, and Ice is the same as Water.
- Body armor is the only type of armor in the game, split into light, medium, and heavy categories.
- Exp is divided among active party members.
- The command menu during battle includes Escape, Tactics, Tactical Skills, Equipment, Items, and Symbology.
- Spells cannot be enabled or disabled during battle, and you cannot switch party members mid-battle.
- Using an item, changing equipment, or using a Tactical Skill action has a 5-second cooldown.
- Items are sorted alphabetically during battle, and you cannot see an item's effect until you select it.
- Stamina is a hidden stat that affects post-battle recovery rate.
- There are no random encounters; enemies are visible on the field and initiate battles when contacted.
- If you run away from a battle, Fayt will be flashing for 3 seconds, during which time you can touch enemies without triggering a battle.
- The time it takes to escape from battle depends on the level difference between your party and the enemy.
- Characters immobilized by a status ailment cannot escape until they recover.
- Running away from battle forfeits all spoils.
- Some enemies, mainly bosses, have 'boss benefits' making them immune to Fury damage, status ailments, and special stun effects.
- Spectacles have been replaced with the Scan Enemy tactical skill, which no longer shows HP and MP values of bosses.
- An enemy that can drop two different items can technically drop both.
- Impact freeze occurs for a small fraction of a second when a controlled character or enemy is hit.
