Part 50: Private Actions in Star Ocean 2

Hey there! Ready to dive deeper into the world of Star Ocean: The Second Story and its remake, Star Ocean: Second Evolution? We're continuing our journey through the Private Actions (PAs), those special character moments that really shape your relationships and the story. Remember, you'll usually trigger these by pressing the Square button when you're near a town where a PA is available. Let's see what's next!

Rena's Private Actions

We're picking up with Rena's PAs, so make sure she's in your active party if you want to see these unfold.

PA #011: Kurik's Fortune Teller

Location: Kurik
When: Available before Kurik is destroyed.
Leads to: PA #081

This one's a bit unique. Head to Fountain Square in Kurik, and you'll find a strange woman making some rather dire predictions. If you're feeling bold and have the skills, you can try to Pickpocket her. If successful, you'll obtain a Sprite's Bracelet. This accessory is pretty neat because it grants the party extra items just by walking around. However, a heads-up: learning the Pickpocketing specialty early on is super expensive and time-consuming, so this might be a tough one to pull off at this stage!

PA #012: Sky Gazing in Marze

Location: Marze
When: No specific conditions mentioned, but likely available after reaching Marze.
Leads to: None directly listed.

Claude's a bit of a dreamer, isn't he? Near the entrance to the Forest of Symbols in Marze, you'll find him gazing at the sky. He'll ask Rena what kind of sky she likes best. You'll have a few choices:

• A deep, blue sky. (Claude -> Rena RP+1; Rena -> Claude FP+1 RP+1)
• When the sky turns red at sunset. (Claude -> Rena FP+1)
• A dark sky full of twinkling stars. (Claude <- -> Rena RP+2)

Choose wisely to influence their relationship!

PA #013: Trouble in Harley

Location: Harley
When: No specific conditions mentioned.
Leads to: PA #014

Head to the warehouse right next to the town entrance in Harley. After exiting, Rena will hear something going on inside. Go back in, and you'll find several thugs hassling a young man named Yoole. He acts tough, but it's clear he could use some help. You'll have a choice here:

• Try and help. (Leads to PA #014)
• Leave.

If you choose to help, things are about to get interesting.

PA #014: The Duel in Zandor's Mansion

Location: Harley
When: Viewed PA #013 and agreed to help Yoole.
Leads to: Rewards

After agreeing to help in PA #013, look for Yoole in the Antique Shop. After a brief chat, they part ways. As you try to exit Harley, Rena finds herself in Zandor's Mansion. Head right from where Rena wakes up, climb the stairs, and look for Yoole. Soon enough, you'll be in a duel against Zandor himself! He has 6000 HP. Important tip: Don't waste time trying to heal with spells during this fight; Zandor is fast and will interrupt you. Stick to healing items and use your best melee attacks and spells to take him down. The rewards for this tough battle are 10,000 FOL, 2,000 EXP, and a Magic Gumdrop.

PA #015: Jewelry Shopping in Salva

Location: Salva
When: Celine and Ashton are in the party.
Leads to: Free accessories!

Head to the jewelry shop in Salva where you'll meet up with Celine and Ashton. You'll get a chance to talk about jewelry. If you want to boost everyone's friendship, choose the option to say you also like jewelry. This leads to a second choice where you pick a gem, and you'll receive a free accessory:

• Sapphire (Receive an Aqua Ring)
• Emerald (Receive an Emerald Ring)
• Diamond (Receive an Earring of Readiness)

Easy accessories, nice!

PA #016: Ashton's Expensive Taste

Location: Arlia
When: Ashton is in the party; possess over 1000 FOL.
Leads to: Ashton's unique accessory.

Before triggering this PA, make sure you have a little over 1000 FOL. This PA won't happen if you have less. Creepy and Weepy are bothering Ashton in the Arlia item shop, trying to get him to buy something really expensive – it costs 80% of your current FOL! If you have just over 1000 FOL, the price will be much more manageable. If you agree to buy it, Ashton gets a Dragon's Ribbon, which is a fantastic accessory only he can wear. So, spend most of your FOL on Ashton's gear before this, but leave yourself that little bit extra!

PA #017: Ashton in Harley

Location: Harley
When: Ashton is in the party.
Leads to: PA #018, PA #019

Make your way to the northern part of Harley and look for Ashton. He'll enter a small building on the left side of the map. This is where the next part of his story unfolds!
