Your V Rising guide to consumables! Learn about Dueling Banners, Vermin Salve, Blood Rose Brew, and more. Master healing and utility items to survive the night.
Hey there, fledgling vampire! So you're looking to get a handle on all the stuff you can pop into your mouth (or use in other ways) to survive and thrive in V Rising? You've come to the right place. This guide breaks down all the consumables you'll encounter. You can use these by tossing them onto your action bar or just right-clicking them in your inventory. For other craftable goodies, you'll want to check out the Items page.Let's dive into what you can craft and use:
Dueling Banner
This one's pretty unique! It's a placeable banner that lets you challenge another player to a duel. Pretty straightforward, right? You craft it using 10 [Blood Essence] by hand.
Empty Waterskin
This is less of a consumable itself and more of a *component* for making potions. You can craft it using 16 (or 12 with a floor bonus) [Plant Fibre] and 8 (or 6 with a floor bonus) [Leather]. You can also use 16 (or 12 with a floor bonus) [Plant Fibre] and 8 (or 6 with a floor bonus) [Thick Leather]. It can be made by hand, at a Tannery, or an Alchemy Table.
Vermin Salve
Feeling a bit roughed up? The Vermin Salve is your go-to for recovering health. It heals you for 35% of your maximum health over 15 seconds. Just a heads-up, though: the healing gets reduced in combat and completely stops if you take damage. You'll need 1 [Rat], 32 (or 24 with a floor bonus) [Plant Fibre], and 20 (or 15 with a floor bonus) [Bone] to craft it at an Alchemy Table or by hand.
Blood Rose Brew
This brew offers a bit more oomph, recovering 40% of your maximum health over 10 seconds. Like the Vermin Salve, the healing is nerfed in combat and broken by damage. To make it, you'll need 32 (or 24 with a floor bonus) [Blood Rose] and 1 [Empty Waterskin] at an Alchemy Table.
Blood Rose Potion
Stepping it up a notch, this potion recovers a solid 55% of your maximum health over 10 seconds. You know the drill: combat limits the healing, and damage interrupts it. This one requires 48 (or 36 with a floor bonus) [Blood Rose] and 1 [Empty Glass Bottle], crafted at an Alchemy Table.
Rat
These little critters have a couple of uses. You can consume a Rat for a small blood boost, but be warned, it'll change your blood type to Frailed. More importantly, you can feed a Rat to a prisoner to restore 20–30% of their health. You can get Rats by crafting them at a Vermin Nest using 8 (or 6 with a floor bonus) [Plant Fibre] and 12 (or 9 with a floor bonus) [Bone].
Tainted Heart
This consumable gives you a small amount of blood and, like the Rat, changes your blood type to Frailed. It's not craftable, so you'll have to find it out in the world.
Unsullied Heart
Similar to the Tainted Heart, but this one gives you a medium amount of blood and also changes your blood type to Frailed. This one isn't craftable either. Keep an eye out for these!
