Discover the best spells in v rising, including travel, basic, and ultimate abilities. Learn about spell schools and how to unlock them.

In v rising, you'll unlock new spells by defeating V Blood Carrier Bosses, with each boss typically granting a Spell Point to a specific school. These spell points allow you to unlock desired spells. The game features six spell categories, each designed for different tasks. With the Gloomrot update and full release, magic received an overhaul, introducing unique spell mechanics to each school and passives to enhance playstyles. When choosing spells, consider these mechanics and how they fit your combat strategy.

The six spell schools and their focuses are:

  • Blood: Focuses on Life Leech properties, making it a tanky school.
  • Unholy: Specializes in summoning minions and debuffing enemies with Condemn to increase damage taken.
  • Illusion: Involves summoning, applying Weakness, and granting Phantasm to reduce spell cooldowns.
  • Chaos: Purely focused on damage with a special Ignite mechanic (damage over time).
  • Frost: Centers on slowing and freezing enemies, offering some of the best defensive spells.
  • Shock: Applies Static for bonus magic damage, with potential chain lightning for cleave damage.

Your loadout consists of one Travel Ability, two Basic Abilities, and one Ultimate. Below are recommendations for each slot.

Travel Spells

Travel Abilities are crucial for dodging attacks in v rising. While all are useful, some offer more benefits for tougher encounters and specific builds.

  • Veil of Chaos: Dash in an input direction, eluding enemies for 2.2 seconds. Your next melee attack heals you for 5% of your maximum health and inflicts Ignite. Your illusion explodes, dealing 50% magic damage and inflicting Ignite. Can be recasted once more to dash again, increasing the recast cooldown by 1 second. Acquired by defeating v rising bosses with Tier 2 Chaos Spell Points, such as Morian the Stormwing Matriarch.
  • Veil of Frost: Dash in an input direction, eluding enemies for 2.2 seconds and shielding yourself for 125% of your spell power. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage and conjures a nova of frost dealing 50% magic damage and inflicting chill. Requires T2 Frost Spell Point, earned via killing V Blood bosses like Vincent the Frostbringer.
  • Veil of Storm: Dash in the inputted direction, eluding enemies for 2.2 seconds. Gain 20% increased attack speed for 4 seconds. Your next primary attack deals 25% bonus damage and inflicts Static. Dashing through an enemy also inflicts static. Requires a Level 2 Shock Spell Point to unlock.

Veil of Chaos is excellent for battlefield mobility due to its ability to perform a second dash, creating more distance from foes. It also explodes, damaging nearby enemies.

Veil of Frost is strong for kiting enemies and comboing into other spells, offering a frost nova effect to Chill. It's useful for boss add phases, open-world fights, and PvP.

Veil of Storm is ideal for comboing enemies with weapons, providing a 20% attack speed boost and bonus damage with Static. It's a strong DPS movement spell that integrates well with most builds. Enhancing static damage and chain lightning via Shock passives can further improve this skill.
