Romance

To romance Alistair, raise your approval to friendly and discuss his background as a Templar and his family. Compliment him and make advances. He requires an approval level of 'adore' or higher to initiate intimacy. If in a relationship with him, a female character can take him to The Pearl in Denerim for a threesome with Isabela.

Crisis

If you choose to spare Loghain at the Landsmeet, Alistair will leave your party in disgust.

Personal Quest: Alistair’s Family

Speak with Alistair at camp, and he will mention an upcoming trip to Denerim. Inquire about his plans to learn he has a sister there. Offer to help him to initiate the quest “Alistair’s Family.” Travel to Denerim with Alistair in your party and proceed to Goldanna’s House, located next to Wade’s Emporium. Regardless of your dialogue choices with her, Goldanna will resent Alistair, completing the quest. Afterward, he will speak with you outside the house. You can choose to calm him down or select the dialogue option “Everyone is out for themselves. You should learn that.” to harden him.

Miscellaneous

• Alistair may teach you the Templar specialization if your approval is high enough.
• You can harden Alistair by selecting the dialogue option, “Everyone is out for themselves. You should learn that.” during his personal quest.
• Poisoning Andraste’s Ashes during the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest will result in a significant approval decrease with Alistair.
• He is the illegitimate son of King Maric. Romancing him as a human character could potentially lead to you becoming queen.

Gifts

Giving Alistair his Mother’s Amulet or Duncan’s Shield will trigger a conversation. Duncan’s Shield can be equipped after being given to him. This shield can only be acquired after the Landsmeet.
