Leliana is a companion in Dragon Age: Origins. This guide covers how to romance her, her personal quest, and gift preferences.

Romance

To initiate a romance with Leliana as a male character, talk to her about her time in the cloister in camp and select the following dialogue options:

1. “I’d like to talk.”
2. “What was someone like you doing in Lothering?”
3. “You know, a beautiful charming woman like yourself.”
4. “Those initiates can’t have been more lovely than you.”

This will initiate the romance.

As a female character with an approval rating over 50, talk to her in camp. She will say, “I… have I ever told you I really like the way you wear your hair?” Respond with the following dialogue options:

1. “My hair? Thank-you.”
2. “Dear Maker!”
3. “Well we are friends aren’t we?”
4. “And do you enjoy the company of other women?”
5. “I think I might giggle and maybe look coy?”

This will initiate the romance.

After finishing her personal quest with Marjolaine, talk to Leliana. She’ll say, “I know that look – you have something on your mind don’t you?” Respond with the following dialogue options:

1. “We need to talk.”
2. “Are you feeling better?”
3. “Er, I think I see what you mean.”
4. “She was special to you wasn’t she?”
5. “I’m sorry it ended to badly.”
6. “Everyone changes unfortunately.”
7. “I can only hope to one day be as special as she was to you.”

This will initiate the romance.

To get invited into her tent, she must be in love with you (approval rating of 100). Talk to her in camp, be nice, and give her gifts. She will eventually invite you in for a one-time event.

Crisis

If you choose to desecrate the ashes during the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, Leliana will turn against you unless you pass an extremely hard Intimidation check.

Personal Quest: Leliana’s Past

When Leliana is “Warm” towards you, speak to her at camp and ask her why someone like her would be in Lothering’s Chantry. She will talk about being a bard in Orlais and end the conversation. Get her approval rating over 25, then talk to her in camp again. Discuss the minstrels being spies, then leave camp. Return to camp, and Leliana will approach you, admitting she lied earlier. Your next random encounter should be with assassins; deal with the survivor after he gives information. You will acquire the quest “Leliana’s Past” after she speaks with you.

Head to Denerim and enter the Assassin’s Contact, located south of the entrance. Kill the guards, enter the next room, and speak with Marjolaine. You will eventually have to kill her. Loot her and check the chest in the side room for some runes and Marjolaine’s Recurve, one of the best bows in the game.

Miscellaneous

• Leliana may teach the Bard specialization if she warms up to you.
• She is religious and usually takes the morally correct path.

Gifts

Giving Leliana the “Andraste’s Grace” or the “Nug” will start personal dialogue with her. You cannot obtain the Nug until Leliana mentions that she finds “those little bunny pigs adorable.”
