The level begins with Sonic and Tails approaching the Floating Island. Sonic transforms into Super Sonic, surfs to the island, and is confronted by Knuckles, who steals Sonic's Chaos Emeralds. If playing as Tails, this introductory sequence is skipped.
Walkthrough
- 1In Act 1, proceed right, passing the Monkeydude. After the RhinoBot and two spike traps, drop down and use Spin Dash to break through the boulders on the left. Enter the Giant Ring to access the Special Stage.
- 2Upon returning to the level, run through the loop-de-loop. In the water section, use the spring to launch yourself to the right.
- 3Push the small boulder left and break through the passageway. Collect the Invincibility power-up and use the hidden spring to return to the surface.
- 4Run through the loop-de-loop again and enter the tunnel.
- 5When the Mini-Boss theme plays, Bomber Ships will appear and set fire to Angel Island. To defeat the main Bomber Ship, you must hit it eight times. This is possible when playing as Sonic & Tails, where a second player controlling Tails can assist in destroying the Bomber Ship.
- 6Continue past the Starpost and run downhill. Jump across ledges and use the gravelling hook.
- 7Run through the loop-de-loop and use a spring to ascend. As you climb ledges, be aware of the Bloominator enemy. Continue right to face the Mini-Boss.
