Learn how to defeat the Pyramid Guardian mini-boss by tricking it into quicksand and navigate the complex Act 2 of Sonic & Knuckles with this detailed walkthrough.

Mini-Boss Strategy:

When the Pyramid Guardian appears, you cannot damage it directly. To defeat it, you must trick it into falling into the nearby quicksand. You can do this by jumping into the quicksand yourself and waiting for the Guardian to approach. If you keep jumping in and out of the quicksand, the Guardian will eventually follow and be destroyed.

Alternatively, you can stand on the right side of the screen and attack the Guardian continuously. The force of your attacks will eventually push it into the quicksand.

Act 2 Walkthrough:

1. Head right and pull the levers to activate the lanterns.
2. Continue right and push the black block to the right.
3. Go through the opening and then move upwards.
4. Go left to collect the Invincibility power-up.
5. Push the black block to the left and exit the area.
6. Run through the loop-de-loop to release the ghosts from the Prison Egg.
7. Push the black block to the left and go through the opening.
8. Press the lever and descend the slides.
9. When you encounter a swing above a slide, jump onto it to proceed past the Starpost. (If you miss the correct slide, you will enter an infinite loop. Wait for Sonic to return near the correct slide and try again.)
10. Push the black block to the left and move upwards.
11. Push the yellow block and ride it.
12. After passing through an opening, jump on the swing and use the pulley lift.
13. Push the black block to the right and ascend through the opening.
14. Go right and run through the loop-de-loops.
15. Pass the Starpost and push the black block to the right.
16. Jump on the swing and press the lever.
17. Go through the opening and break the container.
18. When the sand level rises, move left and then upwards.
19. Jump on the swing and push the black block to the left.
20. Go right and proceed through the opening.
21. Break the container and press the lever.
22. Move right, then left.
23. Push the black block to the right to reveal an opening.
24. Go through the opening and push the black boulder to the right.
25. Move right and jump on the swing.
26. Press the lever and push the black block.
27. Jump down the opening and go right.
28. Jump on the swing and use the pulley lift.
29. Go right and press the lever.
30. Run through the loop-de-loop and go left.
31. Use the pulley lift and head right.
32. Pass the Starpost and head down the slide.
33. Run through the loop-de-loop and use the spring to land on the slide.
34. Go down the slide and run through another loop-de-loop.
35. Go right and use the lever.
36. Use the moving platforms to proceed right.
37. Push the black block to the right and press the lever.
38. Use the swing and break the container.
39. Go through the opening and press the lever.
40. Pass the Starpost and push the black block to the right.
41. Jump down and go right to face the Boss.
