This section covers low-tech melee weapons in Deus Ex Remastered, including knives, swords, pepper guns, and prods. These weapons benefit from the Low-Tech skill, which increases accuracy and damage. The Combat Strength Augmentation also provides significant damage boosts.

Low-Tech Skill Bonuses:

• Untrained: Base accuracy and damage.
• Trained: 4% accuracy increase, 20% damage increase.
• Advanced: 12% accuracy increase, 50% damage increase, no movement penalty.
• Master: 25% accuracy increase, 100% damage increase.

Combat Strength Augmentation Bonuses:

• Level 1: 25% damage increase
• Level 2: 50% damage increase

Crowbar

The Crowbar is a lethal melee weapon that deals 6 base damage. It is slightly more damaging than the Combat Knife but takes up more space, making it inferior except in the very early game when no other options are available. It is also effective against headcrabs, though they are not present in the game.

Notes: The name is a pun on 'murder of crows', a group of crows, and a past enterprise of writer Chris Todd.

Combat Knife

The Combat Knife is a single-space melee weapon that deals 5 base damage. While its size is convenient, it is less effective than the Baton, which deals more damage. Players often find Combat Knives when looting bodies.

Baton

The Baton is a single-space, non-lethal melee weapon that deals 8 base damage, making it the most effective melee option. It is ideal for sneak attacks from behind and for breaking open containers. It does not alert NPCs in no-weapon areas, as it is considered a simple stick.

Notes: The Baton deals 'KnockedOut' damage. Headshots do not benefit from multipliers with this damage type. Strikes to the torso are most effective. A surprise Baton strike deals 10x damage, and damage is multiplied by 4x if the target is Stunned or affected by tear gas.

Sword

The Sword, appearing first in Hong Kong, is a three-space melee weapon dealing 10 base damage. It is stronger than the Baton but is largely made obsolete by the Dragon's Tooth sword, which is acquired shortly after.
