This section details the Augmentations system in Deus Ex Remastered, explaining how JC Denton can acquire and utilize these powerful abilities. Augmentations are temporary buffs powered by Bioelectrical energy, functioning like spells with energy as mana. They are installed via Augmentation Canisters and can be upgraded using Upgrade Canisters.

Augmentation Canisters: These contain nanoscale mechanocarbon ROM modules that, when injected, grant extra-sapient abilities. Proper programming by a medical robot is required to avoid terminal damage. The book "Face of the New Man" by Kelley Chance is referenced in-game but is fictional.

Upgrade Canisters: These contain specific nanomechanisms that enhance existing augmentations without requiring further programming, making them safe for field use.

Nano-augmentations permanently alter physiology and can affect the compatibility of future augmentations. The game describes nanites replicating within cells, receiving and transmitting information via microwave and plasmid vectors, and attaching to nanite CPUs as software upgrades.
