Follow our step-by-step guide to complete the 'Only an Echo' side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Find the Voss family, investigate their disappearance, and confront the Echo.
Walkthrough
- 1Start the quest by speaking to Ida in Lavendel after completing the main quests The Dragon Slayer and Where the Dead Must Go.
- 2Advance the main quest Something Wrong by destroying blight cysts and collecting samples in the Blighted Tunnel and Old Crossroads.
- 3Reach the Flooded Farmlands and investigate the Voss family farm. Destroy blight cysts in the basement and on the first floor to gain access.
- 4Enter the house, read a note, destroy another blight cyst to reach the eastern half, use Neve’s “Unbind Wards” to open a chest, climb a ladder, and read another note.
- 5Exit the farm and head south to find two more search areas. Destroy blight cysts in a shack on a cliff and on ledges to find the second and third Voss family letters.
- 6Locate the well northeast of the previous search area and find the fourth and final letter.
- 7Search in front of the well to talk to the Echo and seal it.
- 8Return to Ida in Lavendel to complete the quest and receive your reward.
Tips
- Do not destroy the large blight cyst in the Old Crossroads early on, as it will unleash the Disciple-in-Ichor (Lv30), which is not necessary for this quest.
- When investigating the Voss farm, you will need to destroy multiple blight cysts to gain access to different parts of the house and surrounding areas.
- Loot the large chest found on the ledges southwest of one of the search areas for the Voss family letters.
Follow-up Encounter:
- Fast travel to the Crossroads and then to the Heights of Athim island.
- Make your way to the blighted tree on the southeastern edge of the island.
- Locate a large well on the eastern edge of the island.
- Jump down the well to encounter the Echo of Echos (Lv35).
- Defeat the Echo of Echos, which fights like a Despair Demon but echoes Rook’s words.
Follow-up Reward: An accessory (e.g., Sightless Skull for a mage).
