Feeling scared in Dragon Age: The Veilguard? This guide helps you find and defeat The Scarecrow, detailing its attacks, weaknesses, and rewards.

Alright, so you've finished the main quest Blood of Arlathan (which kicks off with Grim Bonds, mostly just a chatty intro to the real deal). After that whole ordeal escaping Arlathan, you'll find yourself back at The Lighthouse. From there, fast travel to the Necropolis. Myrna will have some new quests for you, and this is one of them! Just have a chat with her to get started.

Your next step is to fast travel to the Hossberg Wetlands. From Lavendel, head east until you reach the Old Crossroads. The Scarecrow, your target for this haunting, is chilling in some ruins. You'll find them south of the Flooded Farmlands beacon and north of the Old Crossroads beacon. Keep an eye out!

Tips
  • The Scarecrow is a tough one, kind of like a Despair Demon. It loves to teleport and leaves behind frozen orbs that track you – you can shoot these down with ranged attacks, so try to keep them from piling up.
  • Watch out for its polar ray attack! It's super dangerous and can stack chilled debuffs. It uses this a lot, so be ready to dodge or find cover.
  • It also has force blasts, similar to what Champions use. These don't do much damage, and The Scarecrow stays put while doing them, giving you a great chance to interrupt with your own abilities.
  • The Scarecrow can summon Superior Shades, which are melee fighters. They aren't super tough, but it'll keep calling them, so be prepared to deal with adds.
  • The most annoying part? The Scarecrow can heal itself by leeching life from any attack it lands. So, try to be precise and don't let it wail on you for too long!
  • Upon defeating The Scarecrow, you'll get 350 EXP.
  • You can loot a chest it drops for some gear – we found The Iron Cast heavy armor.
  • Reporting back to Myrna nets you 400 gold and +250 Mourn Watch Strength.
  • Myrna will also clue you into a final haunting, kicking off the quest [Hauntings: Deadly Playtime].
