This section details the locations and methods for obtaining all 15 Ego Boosts in Duke Nukem Forever. Some boosts are tied to specific actions or finding hidden items.
Ego Boosts Available: (15)
- That's How 'Ya Nukem! (+2 Ego) - This boost is not listed in the main menu but can be obtained by interacting with a microwave and a Rat in the destructible town before reaching Morningwood.
- Awesome Funbags (+1 Ego) - NEW!
Walkthrough
- 1Follow the linear path, using turbo boosts and crashing through a water tower. You can optionally pick up an RPG if you took out a Pigcop.
- 2Enter a destructible town with six Berserk Pigcops. You can either ignore them or mow them down with your truck.
- 3To find extra items, go to the back of the town and enter a sturdy building. Go behind it, climb on a tractor, and jump through a hole in the rooftop. Inside, you'll find a Shotgun, a Ripper, an EDF crate with 2 Pipe Bombs, a Beer, 2 rats, and a microwave.
- 4If you are missing the microwave Ego Boost (which is normally impossible to miss during a regular playthrough), you can interact with a rat near the microwave to obtain it.
- 5Note: If you destroy both generators in the back, the microwave will no longer function. The microwave itself requires very little firepower to destroy.
- 6Get back into the truck and line yourself up with an angled roof to the right after landing in the town. Boost off it to proceed.
- 7Note: Try to avoid smashing the wooden bridge; driving over it will prevent an unnecessary turbo boost.
- 8When you reach a ravine, use the turbo boost to jump over a bridge, landing on the outskirts of a town where you will run out of gas.
- 9CHECKPOINT
- 10Exit your truck and head right to a church. Inside, you'll find an Enforcer Gun, three Pipe Bombs, and a magazine (Ego Boost).
- 11Before entering the town, you'll find a Shotgun and Ripper leaning against a rock, along with two Pipe Bombs and a Holoduke.
- 12POINTLESS FUN: The Morningwood population is stated as zero after Duke's actions.
- 13Combat Waves:
- Wave 1: Pistol Pigcops x2, Ripper Pigcops x 2 (Saloon, 1-2 at a time)
- 14Wave 2: Shotgun Pigcop, Ripper Pigcops x 2 (Hardware Store)
- 15Wave 3: Pistol Pigcop (Hotel)
- 16Wave 4: Enforcer (Barn), Pistol Pigcops x2 (Hotel)
- 17Wave 5: Super RPG Pigcop (Barn), Pistol Pigcops x2 (Hotel)
- 18CHECKPOINT
- 19Wave 6: Assault Commander, Berserk Pigcops x2 (Barn)
- 20Locations with items:
- The Boot Shop: Ripper, two Shotguns, three Pipe Bombs.
- 21The Saloon: Two Rippers on the bottom floor. The upstairs floor has an RPG Launcher. Access the upstairs by using the truck and an explosive barrel to reach the balcony if the door is closed.
- 22The outhouse behind the saloon: Steroids.
- 23The Hardware Store: Shotgun, two Pipe Bombs.
- 24The Hotel: Ripper, Shotgun, two Laser Trip Mines. Access through side windows. The top floor is inaccessible.
- 25As you walk down the street, engage the Pigcops emerging from the saloon and buildings.
- 26After clearing the street, an Enforcer will appear from the barn, joined by two Pistol Pigcops.
- 27A Super Pigcop with an RPG Launcher will then spawn in the barn with more Pistol Pigcops.
- 28CHECKPOINT
- 29An Assault Commander and two Berserk Pigcops will emerge from the barn. Use explosives or ranged attacks to defeat them. The house across from the saloon can provide cover.
- 30After defeating the Assault Commander, you can resupply on ammo from fallen enemies.
- 31CHECKPOINT
- 32Head to the barn and complete the puzzle to obtain the next gas can.
- 33Barn Puzzle Solution:
- Climb the ladder and crank the pallet to the right.
- 34Jump over, head left, and climb the ladder (you can pick up a Railgun here).
- 35Drop the ladder and climb down.
- 36Return to the crank and crank the pallet to the right again.
- 37Climb up the ladder.
