Complete The Death of Art mission in Mafia: Definitive Edition, including Paulie's fate and the optional Lucas Bertone quest.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
After the heist, drive east, then north, and take the shortcut east to the Twister Theater. Continue north to the Palermo Club and enter the lot beside it. Drive into the building.
  2. 2
Talk to Paulie (right-click). A cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will play where Paulie discusses hiding the money and changing clothes.
  3. 3
Paulie mentions he will take the money with him so Sarah won't find it.
  4. 4
After the cutscene, the Trautenberg Model J becomes available for "Freeride."
  5. 5
Proceed to Paulie's apartment building. A voice-over reveals the money was hidden at Paulie's and plans were made to invest it the next day.
  6. 6
Enter Paulie's apartment. You will find Paulie shot dead.
  7. 7
Search for the money; the cardboard box is empty.
  8. 8
The phone rings. Answer it to speak with Sam.
  9. 9
Sam reveals Salieri found out about the bank and warns you that you are in deep trouble and need to disappear fast.
  10. 10
Sam suggests meeting at the city gallery for safety.
  11. 11
Press the key for "Empty hands" to leave the apartment building, avoiding two policemen.
  12. 12
As you exit, a man in a suit and an undercover policeman will enter Paulie's apartment.
  13. 13
(Optional: In Paulie's apartment, you can shoot the painting near the front door, but time is limited.)
  14. 14
Head to Yellow Pete's gun shop for weapons if desired.
  15. 15
Before meeting Sam at the art gallery, you can undertake an optional mission for Lucas Bertone to unlock the Thor 812 Cabriolet FWD for "Freeride."
  16. 16
To start the optional mission, meet Lucas at his shop just south of the east end of the Giuliano Bridge.
  17. 17
Lucas explains he needs to find a man who owes him money and that a hooker at the Corleone Hotel (the one you bombed in "The Whore") is involved.
  18. 18
Go to the Corleone Hotel, located on the west north-south street, third block from the south in Downtown.
  19. 19
Follow the hooker (blonde, red coat, black dress) when she exits the hotel. Do not follow too closely, or you will fail the mission.
  20. 20
The hooker heads north from the hotel.
Tips
  • The handcuffs symbol on the minimap (a small map in the corner of the HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)) indicates a target or objective.
  • The wanted bar on the HUD shows how much attention the police are paying to you.
  • A cutscene is an in-game cinematic that advances the story.
  • A checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) saves your progress during a mission.
  • Free roam (the open-world mode where you move and play without an active mission) allows you to explore the game world outside of missions.
  • The Trautenberg Model J and Thor 812 Cabriolet FWD are vehicles you can drive in Freeride mode.
  • If you fail the mission by getting too close to the hooker, you will likely need to respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) at the last checkpoint.
