Mafia: Definitive Edition Freeride Extreme guide covering tasks, vehicle unlocks, and saving mechanics. Learn how to get bonus cars.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Tommy starts in his house, located on the west side of the north-south road south of the first "O" of "OAKWOOD" on the map.
  2. 2
His house contains a Health Kit that restores 100 Health and a door that serves as a save point.
  3. 3
Tommy begins with a Thor 812 Cabriolet FWD and a Colt 1911.
  4. 4
Across the street, a man waves his arms, initiating a message about 19 identical men around the city who offer tasks.
  5. 5
Completing each task rewards Tommy with a bonus car and the message "Congratulations! Bonus car received!".
  6. 6
Tasks can be completed in any order. For version 1.0 of the game, complete the invisible man task before any dead bodies are created to avoid a glitch.
  7. 7
Interacting with the Lighthouse door and pressing the right mouse button (RMB) reveals the location of a man who offers or previously offered a Freeride Extreme task.

Saving the game:

  • There are two save slots reserved for Freeride Extreme.
  • Slot 1: The last save made at a man who initiates a subquest/task, or the last save made upon accomplishment of a subquest/task. You can save at a man who gave Tommy a task he already accomplished, unless that man has been killed.
  • Slot 2: The last save made at Tommy's house.
  • If you save in Slot 1 after accepting a task and realize you are unprepared (e.g., your car is too slow), exit the task, load the save from Slot 2 (Tommy's house), prepare better, then return to the man to initiate the task again. This ensures the new save in Slot 1 is made with Tommy better prepared.

Vehicles:

  • In Freeride Extreme (FRE), Tommy can steal or pick the lock of any car or truck.
  • Gas stations can be used, but Lucas Bertone's auto service shop is unavailable for repairs.
  • Tommy cannot travel to the country in FRE, so that method of vehicle repair is also unavailable.
  • Completing a task unlocks one or more cars for use in "Freeride".
  • Most unlocked cars, excluding race cars, the Trautenberg, and the Flame Spear 4WD, can be saved in FRE (e.g., in Tommy's backyard parking lot). The excepted cars cannot be driven in FRE once exited unless a car spawner mod (a community-made modification that changes the game) is used.
  • To save a rewarded car, place it in the backyard lot and save the game at Tommy's house. Storing many FRE cars in the lot can make access difficult. Cars are saved where Tommy leaves them, whether in the yard or on the street in front of his house.

Some of the better "Freeride Extreme" cars:

  • Manta Prototype: fast, good handling, protective roof.
  • HotRod, Masseur Taxi, Luciferion FWD: fast, good handling, hard top, can be used as a taxi in "Freeride".
  • Masseur: fast, good handling, hard top.
  • Bolt-Thrower: fast, good handling, but soft top.
  • The Black Metal 4WD: slow armored car; keep it moving to avoid arrest in "Freeride".

The fastest way to make all the "Freeride Extreme" vehicles available for "Freeride":

  • In "Freeride Extreme," go to the northeast corner of Oakwood.
  • Go to the north-south road and find the blue door of the second house from the north (it has a phone booth in front).
  • Right-click to make the Action icon disappear.
  • Save the game.

The three jump ramps in "Freeride Extreme":

Tips
  • The Lassiter V16 Phaeton, a pedestrian-owned vehicle, can be picked open by Tommy during mission 6, "Fairplay" part 2. It is found in a back lot used in mission 18, "Just for Relaxation," reachable by destroying two light gray doors on the south side of the road southwest of the "W" in "WORKS QUARTER." It is available in City-Night mode.
  • The Lassiter V16 Roadster becomes available for "Freeride" after mission 12, "A Great Deal!" and is added to the garage after mission 13, "Bon Appetit!". It is located on the upper lot of the Lost Heaven Hardware Company, accessible by ramp, southeast of the southeast corner of the block east of the westmost block of the Works Quarter. It is available in all three city modes.
  • A Bolt Hearse is always parked in front of the Downtown church (marked by the brown rectangle below "DOWN TOWN" on the map) in FRE.
