Learn how to increase Tommy's rate of fire with shotguns and how to obtain a Dog's head in Mafia: Definitive Edition.

Dogs head

The easiest way to obtain a Dog's head is by spawning one using "Mafia Hack v1.03" (see the "Mods" section). Alternatively, Tommy can use a Grenade or shoot the engine area of a car to create an explosion that beheads a dog. The Dog's head is collected when an exclamation point icon appears in the bottom left corner of the screen after interacting with it. It is then categorized under "Hands" in the Inventory as "Dogs head" and visually transforms into a boxing glove on Tommy's right hand when used.

Locations and Missions for Boxers (potential Dog's head sources):

• Mission 04-03 Ordinary Routine: A Boxer is behind Clark's Motel. Shooting the center of a yellow Lassiter's wheel to make it fall off can prevent a car chase. Tommy can use the Thompson 1928 to blow up his car to kill and behead the Boxer.
• Mission 10-03 Omerta-City 2: A Boxer is on the museum entrance walk near Little Tony.
• Mission 13-03 Bon Appetit!-After The Attack: A Boxer is in an alley beside Pepe's Restaurant.
• Mission 17-04 Election Campaign--Prison Tower: Four Boxers are in the lot between the prison exit door and the street gate. A Grenade can be used to kill and behead them.
• Mission 20-05 The Death Of Art--Grand Finale: If Tommy steals the Thor 812 Cabriolet FWD, he can shoot the lock off a wire gate at the used car lot in Chinatown (south end of the triangular block on the east side of Chinatown) where four Boxers are located.
• "Epilogue": A picture of a Boxer appears on the fourth newspaper front page. A Boxer may also be glimpsed on the lawn across the street from Tommy during the last shot.

The Dogs head ped:

Rarely, a pedestrian (ped) may appear with a Dog's head instead of a human head. The construction site in Hoboken in "Freeride" is reported to be more liable to produce this occurrence, but it may appear anywhere peds spawn. The intended connection may be a visual pun where Tommy, wearing the Dog's head as a boxing glove, punches a ped, and the Dog's head cartoon-style replaces or covers the ped's head. The code "Boxer" can make Tommy's hands, weapons, and the Dog's head boxing glove larger.

Miscellaneous basics

• Tommy cannot swim and will die, failing the mission, if he enters the river. He may also drown near the dock northwest of "Downtown" under certain circumstances.
• Peds without a specific purpose may make anti-social comments.
• When holding the Left Mouse Button (LMB) to power up the Baseball bat, it's intended to cause a one-hit knockout, but some peds may only crouch before being hit multiple times. Nearby peds might run away and then stop.
• Using the Baseball bat on cylindrical metal containers like trash cans can cause the bat to bounce back and damage or kill Tommy. This can also happen with phone booths.
• Tommy can use a vehicle or weapon to break a fire hydrant, causing water to spurt out.
• Vehicles will only stop for Tommy if he stands in their path for a couple of moments.
• Taking cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) behind a vehicle during a shoot-out is risky, as the vehicle may explode if shot enough.
• Tommy may need to shoot a vehicle's side window several times before it breaks to allow bullets to pass through.
• Shooting vehicle tires will flatten them, and shooting the center of the wheel three or four times will make it fall off. Wheels can also detach from sufficient vehicle damage or explosion.
• Gas pumps in front of the three working gas stations (marked by orange triangles on the Map (Tab), not those at Clark Motel) can be blown up using a vehicle or weapon.
• Tommy can climb onto the bed of a Bolt Ace Pickup near the Giuliano Bridge guard rail during "Fairplay." It is uncertain if he can ride in one driven by a ped.
• To have Tommy leave a vehicle with the engine running: stop the car until the exclamation mark appears in the lower left corner, press the Right Mouse Button (RMB) to stop the engine, use acceleration or reverse, and when Tommy is exiting...
